THE SUNDANCE KID

Harry Longabaugh

Born in 1869 in Mt. Clare, Pa. Harry A. Longabaugh traveled west with his cousin to Durango, and then Cortez, Colorado in 1882. He worked as an honest cowboy & wrangler  on ranches in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Accused of horse theft by employees of the VVV ranch he was convicted of horse theft and spent 18 months in the Sundance, Wyoming jail. Later pardened by Gov. Thomas Moonlight. He earned the name the Sundance Kid by talking about doing time in that Wyoming town. He teamed up with Butch Cassidy, Kid Curry, Flat nose Curry, Lon Logan, and many other members of the Hole in the Wall gang. The first train robbery the Kid was involved in took place near Malta and Wagner, Montana, in 1892. Next the raid on the Belle Forche Bank, and the rest is history.......The Sundance Kid went on to become one of the most well known outlaws in western history riding through Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, followed what would become the outlaw trail from the Big Muddy across the Milk River all the way to Cuidad Juarez.
